Chaplain Paul (Joe) Willis was born in Portsmouth, Ohio in 1963, the youngest of seven children.
He went into the Army National Guard in 1980 on split option between his Junior and Senior year of high school in Columbia, SC. Finished Basic and Advanced Individual Training and then entered college.
He graduated from Morehead State University with a Biology and Military Sciences Degree in 1985. [Pre-med student]
Upon graduation in May 1985, Joe was commissioned as a 2LT in the Regular Army. In Nov 85, Joe married Sherri Kaser from Mt. Sterling, OH. (2nd best decision in his life)
He served as an Army Chemical Officer. (Assigned to 1/1 Cav., 1st Armored Division)
He then served as a Chemical Recon Plt leader and later as the DISCOM Chemical officer in Germany. In July 1986, Joe accepted Christ at a Ron Comfort revival meeting in Nurnberg, Germany. (Best decision he ever made in his life) J
Nov 89: Went to Ft. Riley, KS where he served as the DIVARTY CM Officer, 1st ID and the later commanded the 12th CM Co.
In 1992, he got off active duty and went to Bob Jones Univ. to begin his Master of Divinity degree.
In 1996, he re-entered the Army Reserves as a Chaplain Candidate.
In 1997, Joe graduated from Heart of America Seminary and was ordained as a Baptist minister in Kansas City, MO. He was the assistant pastor of two churches from 1998-2006. In Ohio, Joe also served as the Chaplain for the Allen Co. Sheriff’s Dept.
In 2005, was called back to active duty and served as the base chaplain at Soto Cano Air Base in Honduras.
In 2006 he was assigned as the Operations and Plans Chaplain and eventually the Deputy Command Chaplain of US Central Command Headquarters,
Joe became the chaplain recruiter and associate endorser of FBFI in Nov 2014.
