About Us

Jan and Ed were both raised in Christian homes and were saved at an early age.  They each surrendered their lives to Christ during their teen years. Both attended and graduated from Bob Jones University. Following Jan's graduation, they were married on August 16, 1980.  They joined Baptist Mid-Missions in the Fall of 1982. After three years of deputation, they arrived in Brazil in the Spring of 1986.

After completing one year of language study, they moved to the city of Sorocaba in 1987.  After four successful church planting endeavors with fellow missionaries, Ed assumed the directorship of the Bible College in Curitiba at the end of 2007.  Ed served as interim pastor at Victory Baptist Church until they called a national pastor in December of 2017.

Along with church planting, the Alexanders have been involved in the ministry of music.  Jan has written choir arrangements over the years, and Ed has translated sacred music into Portuguese. Jan has also arranged a simplified hymnal for beginning pianists which is used across Brazil. They sponsor an annual Church Music Conference at the Bible College which is attended by Christian workers from all over southern Brazil.

Besides administrative duties, Ed teaches undergraduate and graduate level courses in the college. Thirteen students from Sorocaba have graduated from the seminary and are presently in full-time ministry.
